Neighborhood Night Out Block Party Hosted by Durant Task Force — The Durant neighborhood spans the cities of Oakland and San Leandro is among the tightest-knit groups of people I’ve yet to encounter. I originally heard about this remarkable community when I met Leah Hall at San Leandro’s Cherry Festival. We started talking and it soon became clear that we had to find a way to incorporate as much of the neighborhood as we could into this shoot, so I met with these lovely people at the National Night Out activities they had planned. I was welcomed warmly by everyone attending the event and, as you can see, a tremendous amount of love and care went into producing the signs and the sentiments behind them. I am now, officially, a big supporter of all things Durant!
