Valdez Triangle

James was 13 years old when he began cutting hair. As he puts it, he was a skate boarding, surfing punk, and he and his friends wanted hairstyles like the guys in the magazines they read. None of them could afford to pay to get their hair cut that way, so they did it themselves. James picked up a pair of scissors and some clippers and hasĀ  yet to set them down. As the manager of the brand new, Oakland-based People’s Barber & Shop, James uses his vast experience and his easy manner to help create a traditional men’s barber shop in the heart of Oakland. When you walk in, not only do the staff put you at ease, but also they put a drink in your hand. And despite the fact that it is the sister site to the original San Francisco location, there is something authentically Oakland about the place and the people in it.

If we can make Oakland better by providing the services that we offer, that’s what it’s all about.

Making people feel good about themselves.
